'ocean's lap with its mortal stain.'- 'mortal' connotations of human, show how this is human inflicted, humans are the problem.
'soldier with his uniform of fire.'- Clarke (author) is lamenting the soldier's suffering.
'For the gunman and the armourer.'- these people profited from war, they only care about the money not the people. (selfish).
'For'...'For'...'For'...'For'...- the anaphora of 'For'- shows a list of 'objects' who have been affected by war, its not just the soldiers.
