Results

• Group 2 ended up following Lorenz everywhere but Group 1 followed the mother goose everywhere
• The following of Lorenz persisted even when the two groups were mixed up

  Goslings from group 2 still followed Lorenz everywhere
• Lorenz identified a critical period for imprinting which was between 3 - 20 hours after birth

  He did this by varying the time between hatching and seeing a moving object to measure this
• If imprinting did not occur in the time of the critical period then goslings did not attach to a mother figure
