Honour killing

• 'I'm taking off this veil, this black veil of a faith.'- black imagery again, anaphora- sense of jubilation breaking off the shackles.
• 'that tied my mouth.'- personification- not the faith itself but the traditional clothing. there is repetition of 'my' and 'me'.
• 'I'm taking off these silks, these lacy things-> commenting on the sexualisation of women.
• 'that feed dictator dreams.'- metaphor/alliteration, uncomfortable suggestion -> women are objects used by men.
• 'the face, the flesh and then the womb.'- give up female identity, 'f' sound the rhythm slows down, list of three.
• 'easy cage of bone'- metaphor- ironic-> it has not been easy for women-> is being born a woman a form of imprisonment?
• 'let's see... lets see'- repetition- shorter line -> reinforces the point.
• 'making, crafting,/ plotting.'- use of present tense/list of three creative verbs. Plotting is on its own line (/)- suggests scheming/ secrecy- still not easy to do?
• 'at my new geography'- 'geography'- birth place -> upbringing?

  emerges as a new woman -> 'my' all women will be different -> reclaim her won identity -> ends on a positive tone.
