Procedure

• Designed to investigate the security ( quality ) of attachment a baby displays towards its caregiver
• It was a controlled observation
• There was a 1 way mirror and cameras to observe behaviour of child and interactions with caregiver
• Infants used in the Strange Situation were aged between 12 and 18 months and were from 100 middle class American families
