Experimental design

• Experimental design-

  -The groups that ppts are in & what conditions of the experiment that take part in
• Independent groups design -

  -Where different ppts take part in each experimental condition (they will be allocated randomly)

  -Reduces researcher bias
• Matched pairs design -

  -Where ppts take part in only 1 experimental condition, but they are recruited specifically to be similar in relevant characteristics (e.g age, gender) to 'matched' ppts in other conditions
• Repeated measures design-

  -Where the same ppts are allocated to all groups (e.g take part in all conditions) of an experiment
