  • Its epicentre was in Kathmandu and it had a shallow focus
  • Occurred between a destructive (collision) place boundary
  • Indo Australian and Eurasian plate - there are 2 continental plates so there was no subduction

  • 9000 people died
  • 22,000 people injured
  • 600,000 damaged buildings
• Secondary Effects

  • 300,000 people left
  • 3,000,000 people left homeless

  • Search and rescue teams from UK
  • Tent City - half a million tents from UNICEF
  • The Red Cross sent aid
