Division of the nervous system

    Cards (4)

    • What is the role of the nervous system?
      • The nerve cells collect information from the world and then process the info and then take action by directing body organs and muscles through transmission of electro chemical messages
    • What are the two parts the nervous system is split as?
      • The nervous system is split as the CNS (brain and spinal cord) which responsible for complex processing(brain) and receiving and transmitting information (spinal cord)
      • And then split as the PNS(peripheral) which is a network of messenger neurones. It contains Autonomic and Somatic NS
    • What is the autonomic nervous system?
      • Controls actions of internal organs and glands. is not under conscious control
      • Has the sympathetic branch which increases body activities such releasing noradrenaline in stress response of fight or flight
      • Has the parasympathetic branch which decreases bodily activities when activates in rest
    • What is the Somatic Nervous system?
      • Controls skeletal muscles for movement, is conscious control
