• There are 5 levels of organization:

  • Cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, organism
• Gas exchange

  • occurs in the lungs
  • is the 'swapping ' of gasses
  • diffusion moves oxygen out of the alveoli and into the blood
• Respiration

  • Is a chemical reaction that occurs in al living cells
  • releases energy from glucose
• Aerobic respiration (equation)

  • glucose + oxygen -> water + carbon dioxide + energy
• Anaerobic respiration (equation)

  • glucose -> lactic acid
• The equation for getting rid of Lactic acid

  • Lactic acid + oxygen -> carbon dioxide + water + energy
