  • nominal data- tallies of discreet categories, not like there is in between measurements
  • ordinal- whole numbers that can be ordered, but not necessarily precise measurements, eg first second or third place in a race, ranking mood on a scale of 1-10
  • interval- standardised units of measurement (that can include a decimal point), eg weights in kg, heights in cm, time in seconds
