What is a Family?
Generally regarded by sociologists based on relationships of blood, marriage or adoption
What is a Household?
A group of people who live at the same address
What is the Nuclear Family?
Family consisting of a father, a mother and one or more children who could be their biological or adopted children
What is the Extended Family?
Family that includes relatives beyond the nuclear family.
They may or may not live at the same address

Family forms which have recently increased or resurged
What are Lone Parent families?
Families where at least one child lives with just one parent
What are Reconstituted Families?
A couple comes together and forms a family including at least one child from a previous relationship of one member of the couple

Any residence where the occupants are not related by blood, marriage or adoption

Household filled with flatmates and people a person likes, but who are not family
