• The witches reveal prophecy to macbeth and banquo
• duncan arrives to reward macbeth for his bravery in battle and he renames macbeth as Thane of Cawdor
• the witches tell macbeth that he’ll become thane of glamis, thane of cawdor and king of scotland
• the witches tell banquo that his descendants will inherit the throne
• lady macbeth receives a letter from macbeth about the witches prophecies and she reveals her ambition and desire for power 
• lady macbeth thinks macbeth is too kind to seize the throne so she calls upon spirits to help
• lady macbeth convince macbeth to kill duncan and fulfill the prophecy
