• banquo becomes suspicious of macbeth
• macbeth sees banquo as a threat because of the prophecy that his descendants will inherit the throne
• macbeth hires murderwes to kill banquo and fleance but fleance escapes
• after banquos murder, macbeth hosts a banquet for the scottish nobles and he sees banquos ghost sitting on the table - this hallucination shows macbeths guilt and psychological consequences
• lady macbeth tried to take control over the situation but she realises their actions are having an effect on both of them
• macbeth goes back to the witches for more prophecies they tell him to beware of macduff and that he’ll be safe until birnam would comes to dunsindale hill
