  • what equipment is needed?
    a toy car attached to a piece of string, the string is looped around a pulley. the other end of the string is attached to a 100g mass.
  • what does the weight of the mass do?
    provide the force acting on the toy car
  • what do we draw on the desk?
    chalk lines in equal intervals (e.g. every 10cm)
  • what do we do first?
    hold the car at the starting point and when we are ready we let go of the car
  • why does the car accelerate along the bench?
    because there's a resultant force acting through he string
  • what do we record?
    the time that the car passes each distance marker
  • what do we do after completing the experiment once?
    repeat the experiment several times, but each time we decrease the mass on the end of the string
