  • Procedure
    • 11 split-brain individuals shown an image to left or right visual field
    • LVF info processes in right hemisphere, RVF processed In left
    • Info cannot be conveyed to other side due to corpus callosum severation
  • Findings
    • When object shown in RVF, patient could describe what they saw, couldn't when shown in LVF
    • However, they could pick up a similar-feeling object
    • Pinup picture shown to LVF, emotional reaction (giggle) but patients usually just reported seeing a flash of light
  • Conclusion
    • There is lateralisation of function
    • Left hemisphere - verbal
    • Right hemisphere - silent and emotional
    • Each hemisphere has its own perceptions, memories and experiences
