  • Glucose test:
    Use Benedict’s reagent into a test tube
    Place in a hot water bath for 5 minutes
    Take out and place in a test tube rack
    If glucose is present, it should turn brick red
  • Starch test:
    Use iodine solution into a test tube
    If starch is present, the food will turn blue/black
  • Protein test:
    Use biuret’s reagent into a test tube
    If protein is present, the food will turn lilac
  • Lipids (fats) test:
    Use ethanol solution in a test tube
    Shake gently
    Leave for a minute
    If lipids are present, the solution will be cloudy white
