    • What are behavioural characteristics of phobias?
      Ways in which people behave/act.
    • Panic
      A phobic person may panic in response to the phobic stimulus being present. It may involve screaming, crying or ruunnng away. Children may react by freezing, clinging or having tantrums.
    • Avoidance
      Sufferers tend to go to big efforts to avoid coming into contact with phobic stimulus, e.g. people with a fear of public toilets may limit the time they spend outside. This may interfere with work, social life, etc.
    • Endurance
      Sufferer remains in presence of the phobic stimulus but continues to experience high levels of anxiety. May be unavoidable in some situations, e.g. fear of flying.
