      The participants rights within a study
    • Deception
      When the researcher does not tell P’s the true aims of the study
    • Right to withdraw
      Participants have the right to withdraw themselves and their data at any point during a study
    • Informed consent
      When participants have agreed to take part in a study knowing the true aims and their right to withdraw
    • Protection from harm
      Participants must be protected from psychical and psychological harm
    • Confidentiality
      P’s identity and data must be kept private and not shared
    • Debrief
      When the researcher tells P’s the true aims of the study after it has taken place and then asks if they want to participate or withdraw
    • Presumptive consent
      The researcher asks a similar sample to the actual sample and if they agree the researcher assumes the actual sample will consent aswell
    • Prior general consent
      P’s are given a list of 10 studys with the real one amongst them and if they agree to take part in the study then it can take place
    • Retrospective consent
      Participants are asked if they consent to being in the study during debriefing
