Catholic view on the ordination of women

• Has a complementation approach to the role of women- the view that men and women are equal in God's sight but have different roles in life
• The complementation approach is supported by Natural Moral Law
• The Apostolic succession can only be passed on from men to men- unbroken succession goes back to Jesus' Apostles, all of whom were men
• The position of the Apostolic succession from men to men was confirmed in 1976 by a Vatican declaration- the declaration states that Jesus' radical attitude of great respect for women provides a model to be followed, but that does not entail leadership in the Church, since Jesus only chose men to be Apostles
