  glucose phosphorylated into hexose phosphate using ATP

  this is to make it unstable
• step 2

  hexose phosphate is phosphorylated again into hexose biphosphate
• step 3

  hexose biphosphate is split into 2 triose phosphate molecules
• step 4

  triose phosphate is then oxidised into pyruvate
