Social norms (deviation from)

• Deviation from unstated and unwritten rules about how individuals should behave. Anything violating this is considered as abnormal.
• all societys have standards of acceptable behaviour - anyone who behaves differently will be classed abnormal
• these standards are often in place for good reason
• some social norms are implicit whilst other social norms are explicit
• can be written and unwritten
