Obedience key terms

• Social influence - when an individuals behaviours attitudes for emotions are affected by someone else
• Conformity - change in behaviour to fit with the group norm
• Obedience - a form of social influence where you follow direct orders from an authority figure
• Compliance - going along with what someone says whilst not necessarily agreeing to it
• Dissenting - orders are rejected
• Internalising - obey with the agreement (understand why)
• Confederate - someone who helps someone else to do something
• Autonomy - acting on ones own free will
• Agency - acts as an agent for others
• Moral strain - asked to do something against ones moral judgement
• socialisation - learning the norms of society through interaction with others, especially parents and peers
