  • How is Daly & Wilsons study supporting evidence ?
    > Found that 92% of same-sex killings involving love triangles were males killing males
    > Sexual jealousy results in aggression towards a rival being a survival trait (male needs to be the one passing on his genes)
  • How is Buss & Shackleton's study supporting evidence?
    > When men feel threatened in a relationship they tend to give in to their female by debasement and giving other men intersexual threats
    > Men have evolved to protect his female, if another man interferes it causes aggression as they have a duty to pass on genes
  • How can protection of genes be applied to psychology as a science?
    > Protect mate and offspring and their self which is a widely accepted idea
    > Has scientific credibility including being widely accepted in the scientific community
  • How is aggression being seen as counter productive refuting evidence?
    > Being aggressive may attract aggression from others and may not survive
    > Aggression may not aid survival but decrease the chance of survival, might decrease someones status
  • How is aggression towards a stranger an alternative explanation?
    > Doesn't link to protecting a mate, offspring or passing on genes
    > Frustration aggression hypothesis - aggression may be displaced onto someone else at a later time - Dollard
  • Why is this theory reductionist?
    > Fails to acknowledge other factors like hormones, brain functioning and childhood experiences
    > Might be viewed as a form of genetic reductionism where complex behaviours are simplified to one specific factor
