  • What are the stages of Information processing?
    1. Input
    2. Encoding
    3. Storage
    4. Retrieval
    5. Output
  • What are the type of forgetting ?
    • decay
    • displacement
    • retrieval failure
  • What happens in the first stage of information processing?
    • The info is input into the brain through the body's senses , such as sight or sound. These are registered by the eyes and the ears which send the info through to the brain.
  • What happens when its encoded ?
The info is changed from one format to another , like sound waves such as music or words that enter the ear, to nerve impulses which travel up to the auditory cortex in the brain. Here they are then decoded and converted into what we perceive as sound.
  • What a happens after encoding?
The info is then held there (in the auditory cortex) ,so it can be retrieved at a later date . This is called storage . The info can then be recalled from memory, which is a process called storage
