• Internal communication is within a business.
• External communication is between members of one organistion and another.
• Formal communication refers to official channels of communication directly related to work matters.
• Open channels of communication are available to everyone.
• Restricted channels are for information of a confidential nature.
• Informal communication refers to all unofficial, natural and unstructured communication.
• Communication can be verbal, written, visual or non-visual.
• Communication barriers can limit or impede the effectiveness of communications.
