  • Short axon
  • 1 long dendrite
  • From receptor -> CNS

  
• Motor neurone:

  • Variable axon
  • Variable dendrite
  • Sensory -> Motor in CNS

  
• Motor neurone:

  • Long axon
  • Many short dendrite
  • From CNS -> effector

  
• What are the 2 types of neurones?

  Myelinated (sensory + motor) & Non-myelinated (relay)
• What is a myelin sheath?

  • Fatty insulating layer
  • Speeds up rate of transmission
  • Made of Schwann cells, wrapped around the axon to provide an insulating layer
