Asch varied the number of confederates from 1 to 15
Further increases in the group size did not significantly increase conformity level
The likelihood of a person conforming increases when there are greater amounts of confederates providing wrong answers/ group size but only to a certain point
Campbell & Fairey (1989) suggests that type of answer is also important - when the answer is objective, a larger majority group is needed to conform. When the answer is subjective, just one to three people will cause conformity.
