  • not allowed to discuss with anyone outside the jury room
  • try less than 1% of all criminal cases
  • majority verdicts introduced to prevent jury tampering (Twomey 2009)
  • tried in crown court, indictable cases
  • age 18-75
  • not allowed to be on jury if:
    • been on probation
    • sentenced to prison/community service
    • on bail
  • have to be sworn/affirmed in
  • summoned again within 2 years -> right to refuse service
