In Stave three Scrooge is Shown Tiny Tim who is presented as an Innocent victim of the cratchit poverty this upsets Scrooge even though the family are poor they are "happy grateful please with one another and contented with the time"
this forces good to be humble and not have such a high opinion of himself compared to others specifically the poor. His concern with Tiny Tim teaches him that the poor are real people and he begins to understand the meaning of charity
scrooge shows reformation in his ways in stave three by acknowledging the purpose of the ghosts. even though he is filled with "horror" and "solemn dread". he kneels down infront of the ghost of christmas yet to come saying he will go with it "with a thankful heart"
scrooges dead body was described as "plundered and bereft; unwatched, unwept, uncared for" showing the consequences of leading a selfish life. scrooge however does not know it is him
his death was only cared for as it gave people hope. a young couple rejoiced because they owed him money and he was "merciless"
scrooge asked to see some "tenderness connected with a death" and so the ghost takes him to the Cratchit household where they are mourning over tiny Tim's death. this contrasts with the uncaring attitudes towards scrooges death
seeing the future convinces scrooge to change because it is frightening. he genuinely wants to change to become a better man not only to help himself ( a symbol of the upper and middle class ) but also to save tiny tim ( a symbol of the lower class and those in poverty)
"i fear you more than any spectre i have seen"
"i hope to be anotherman from what i was"
"i dont mind going if lunch is provided" the fat men discuss scrooge'sfuneral however will only organise something if they seek profit in it. they are greedy just like scrooge.
"old scratch has got his own at last hey? questions a business man on the street. the other man has a short reply before saying "cold isnt it". scrooge's death is dismissed as nobody feels particularly upset by it. unlike Fred who "looked a little-"just a little down you know""
"every person has a right to take care of themselves, he always did"
"its a judgement on him" scrooges house staff discuss his death and believe he deserves to have his belongings stolen as it is justice for his behavouir
the charwoman took scrooges shirt of his dead body "i took it off" showing nobody has any respect for Scrooge, not even for his dead body
one of the women say scrooge "frightened everyone off while he was alive to profit us when he was dead"
scrooges death is describes as "cold, rigid, dreadful death"
scrooges body was in a "dark empty house" which is opposite to the married couples house which the spirit "revealed a room by daylight"
"the only emotion that the ghost could show him.... was one of pleasure"
Scrooges graveyard was "overrun by grass and weeds"
" are these the shadows of the things that will be or that may be, only?"
"read upon the neglected grave was his own grave"
"i will honour christmas in my heart, and keep it all the year"
