Cards (6)

  • Method for light?
    1. Insert collimating slit into ray box and turn it on to produce a narrow light ray.
    2. Place material block on paper and trace outline.
    3. Draw a normal (90° line) at the point where incident ray meets the block.
    4. Mark the reflected and refracted rays, then remove the block and connect the points.
    5. Use a protractor to measure:
    • Angle of incidence (between incident ray and normal).
    • Angle of reflection (between reflected ray and normal).
    • Angle of refraction (between refracted ray and normal inside the block).
    1. Repeat with different materials, using fresh paper each time.
  • Independent variable (light)?
    • angle of incidence
  • Dependent variable (light)?
    • angle of reflection
  • Control Variables (light)?
    • distance of ray box from mirror
    • width of light beam
    • frequency/wavelength of light
  • Safety for light?
    • make sure glass block doesn't have sharp edges
  • Results of light experiment?
