• range of sentencing

  • detention and training order - 2 months to 4 years (or longer in very serious cases)
  • detention for life - murder cases under s258 sentencing act 2020
  • referral order - youth offender panel agrees programme of behaviour - prioritises restorative justice and prevention of reoffending
  • reparation order - young offender makes reparation to victim for the community at large
  • youth rehabilitation order - judge can choose from list of requirements
