    Cards (2)

    • Describe how to use a quadrat
      1. Place a 1m2 quadrat on the ground at a random point within the first sample area. You can divide the the area into a grid and use a random number generator to pick coordinates.
      2. Count all the organisms within the quadrat
      3. Repeat these steps
      4. Calculate a mean
      5. Repeat these steps in the second sample area
      6. Compare the means
    • How can the population be calculated
      1. Find the mean number of organisms per m2.
      2. Multiply the mean by the total area
