Many substances can move by diffusion, or active transport, but only water can move by osmosis.
Diffusion is the movement of particles from a concentrated solution to a dilute concentration, but active transport and osmosis involve the movement of particles or water from a dilute concentration to a concentrated solution
Diffusion and osmosis do not require energy, but active transport does require energy
