  • Post WW2: South Africa refused to cooperate under the new UN - wanted independence for South West Africa.

  SWAPO created (South West African People's Organisation)

  Recognised by UN - Representative for Namibian people

  • South Africa called it a terrorist organisation
  • 1966: SA ignore UN order to withdraw - SWAPO turn to armed conflict.
