    Where items move along the production line in a continuous process

    -large scale/identical items

    -specialisation
    -division of labour
    e.g.
    -a toothpaste factory
    -mass produced food goods
  • What are some advantages of flow production?
    -consistent quality
    -much faster than job production
    -low cost per unit
    -continual output leading to less need to hold stock
  • What are some disadvantages to flow production?
    -mistakes or problems can shut down the whole process
    -wont be unique/personalised
    -if a product needs to be recalled they have to do so many, all from that day
