Todorov's Narrative Theory

• Definition:Stories follow a five-stage structure
• The five stages are

  Equilibrium - Eveyrthing is normal

  Disruption - A problem occurs

  Recognition - Problem is realised

  Attempt to Repair - Characters try to fix it

  New Equilibrium - Balance is restored, but different
• Stormzy/Superheroes : Begins with a struggle (disruption) and ends with hope and empowerment (new equilibrium)
• Luther and The Sweeney - Crime disrupts order, detectives investigate leading to new equilibirum
• No Time To Die Poster : Implies a disruption, Bond facing danger, and a coming resolution
• This Girl Can AD : Disrupts the norm by showing real women exercising confidently
