• Microorganisms are a group of tiny organisms including bacteria, viruses, protists, and fungi.
• Pathogens are microorganisms that can cause disease and they can spread from person to person, causing communicable or infectious diseases.
• Pathogens can spread through the air, contaminated food or water, or through direct contact.
• To reduce the spread of pathogens, we can be generally hygienic, kill the vectors, vaccinate people, or quarantine people.
