Plant and animal cell slides

• Iodine seals the cells
• Iodine likely to stain the nucleus and cell wall
• Lower coverslip slowly to prevent air bubbles
• Forceps and mounted needle used to make sure the tissue isn’t folded
• Filter paper can be used to absorb excess stain
• Use low power objective lens first to try and locate cells
• Methylene blue (a chemical stain) used for animal cell slide
