Gonorrhoea

• Caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacteria
• Transmission: spread through sexual contact (unprotected sex)
• Symptoms include:

  • Thick, yellow/green discharge from genitalia
  • Pain when urinating
  • Some people may have no symptoms
• Prevention methods:

  • Using barrier contraception (eg. Condoms)
  • Reducing number of sexual partners
  • Regular STI testing
• Treatment: Antibiotics, but some strains have become anti-biotic resistant
