Aerobic Respiration

• GLUCOSE + OXYGEN -> CARBON DIOXIDE + WATER
• Respiration is the process used by the body's cell to release chemical energy in the form glucose.
• Limewater - Thos experiment showed me that I breath out the gas: carbon dioxide
• The Burning Candle: This experiment showed me that a fuel like a candle gives out thermal and light energy. It also showed me that fueld need the gas oxygen to burn
• Plants - I learnt that animals cannot live without plants. This is because: Plants take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. They also provide glucose in food chains as they are producers.
• Jelly Babies - Jelly babies taste sweet because they contain glucose. Jelly babies contain lots of energy. I saw this on the video clip because when the jelly baby was heated with lots of oxygen it started to ignite and produce a large amount of gas
• Thermometers - Humans are like candles because they give out energy in the form of heat. I know this because my temperature was warmer than the temperature of the room
• Mirror - When i breathed on the mirror, mist formed on it. This is because our breath contains water vapour which condenses on the cold mirror
• All living organisms much carry out respiration
• Aerobic respiration occurs in the mitochondria when you need energy and requires oxygen to take place
• Human use the energy release from respiration to carry out activities such as: Keeping warm, using muscles and building proteins
