Light independent reactions

Cards (5)

  • Light independent reactions take place in the stroma of the chloroplast
  • They consist of a series of chemical reactions called the Calvin cycle.
  • CO2 is first trapped or “fixed” by combination with ribulose biphosphate.
  • CO2 is reduced using ATP and NADPH into glucose.
  • No light is directly used in the Calvin cycle as it is a light independent process.
