Light independent reactions take place in the
stroma
of the chloroplast
They consist of a series of chemical reactions called the
Calvin
cycle.
CO2 is first trapped or
“fixed”
by combination with
ribulose
biphosphate.
CO2 is
reduced
using
ATP
and
NADPH
into glucose.
No light is directly used in the
Calvin
cycle as it is a light
independent
process.
