• 1. FSH is secreted by the pituitary gland
  2. FSH causes the eggs to mature in the ovaries
  3. FSH stimulates the ovaries to produce oestrogen
  4. which inhibits further release of FSH and stimulates release of LH
  5. which triggers ovulation
  6. and leads to the secretion of progesterone by the empty follicle that contained the egg
  7. Progesterone inhibits the release of LH and FSH
  8. Progesterone maintains the lining of uterus in readiness for fertilised egg

  Follicle stimulating hormone, made in the pituitary gland and makes eggs mature

  Maintains uterine lining, made by ovaries and blocks FSH
• What is oestrogen?

  Blocks FSH, building uterine lining and made by the ovaries
• What is LH?

  Luteinising hormone, causes egg release and made by pituitary gland
