• What is an ombudsman?

  A person supported by a team of people who investigate complaints about the actions and decisions of state government departments and agencies. Assesses the complaint based on the facts and decides whether the outcome was reasonable. If they decide it is unreasonable or unlawful, they will suggest alternative outcomes.

  Swedish for agent or representative of the people

  • Cost and time effective
  • Less stressful than a lawsuit
  • Helps parties to seek justice against state institutions without going to court.
