  • not all young people accepted the nazi ideas and some setup other groups
  • the edelweiss pirates were a loose band group across many cities, first emerging in 1934
  • listened to forbidden music
  • wore clothe which were considered abnormal by the nazis
  • the swing youth tended to come from middle classes
  • admired western culture
  • loved swing music
  • rebelled against order + discliple of nazis
  • took part in activites which were frowned upon
