New right age inequality

Cards (5)

  • Dennis and Erdos
There has been a fundamental shift of prioritising rights before responsibilities has led to an underclass who don't offer anything to society. Younger people has lost common values and moral standards so their low wages are not surprising.
  • Piers Morgan
Younger people are 'snowflakes' who lack resilience and are oversensitive. Young people lack a backbone and the high levels of unemployment are a reflection of individual failing within the new woke youth.
  • Marxists criticise the idea of 'snowflakes' as it is the system that allows youth to be paid less, not an individual problem due to being self-centred.
  • Murray and Herrnstein
People born today are more divided than previous generations. The cognitive elite intermarry so their children inherit higher IQ levels and better life chances. Young people are lower paid and poor as those with lower IQ have children and this underclass is increasingly subnormal.
  • Murray and Herrnstein's theory is criticised as IQ tests are widely criticised for cultural distortions and are impossible to not be linked to cultural capital, such as households with better educational toys and books.
