    • Newtons first law
      A body will remain at rest or move with constant velocity unless acted on by a resultant force
      If forces are balanced the body will be either at rest or moving at a constant velocity
      If forces are balanced the forces to the left = the forces to the right
      The forces up = the forces down
    • Newtons second law
      The resultant force is equal to the rate of change in momentum. The change in momentum is in the same direction as the resultant force.
      F = ma
      F - Force (N)
      m - mass (kg)
      a - acceleration (ms^-2)
    • Newtons third law
      If a body exerts a force on another then there will be a force of equal magnitude but opposite direction
      Every force has a paired equal and opposite force
      The force pairs have to act on 2 different objects
      The force pairs also have to be the same type of force
    • Linear momentum
      If an object with mass is in motion it has velocity and momentum
      Linear momentum is the momentum of an object that is moving in one dimension
      Linear momentum is constant unless there is a external resultant force acts on the system
      p = mv
      p - momentum (kgms^-1)
      m - mass (kg)
      v - velocity (ms^-1)
    • Net force
      force is the rate of change of momentum on a body
      F = Δp/Δt
      F - force (N)
      Δp - Change in momentum (kgms^-1)
      Δt - Change in time (s)
