• What is a force?

  A push or pull that acts on an object due to the interaction with another object
• What are non-contact forces?

  Objects are physically separated
• Examples of non-contact forces?

  • Electrostatic - charge causes a force of attraction/repulsion
  • Gravitational attraction - mass creates a force of attraction
• What are contact forces?

  Objects are physically touching
• Examples of contact forces?

  • normal contact force which is felt in opposite direction to contact, force is normal to the planes of contact
  • Friction - surfaces and their roughness cause friction when moved in contact
