• What is OCD?

  OCD is a condition characterised by obsessions and / or compulsive behaviour
• Around 1 - 3 % of people in the world have OCD
• An obsession is a cognition meaning it takes place in the mind and is something you think

  These obsessions can be irrational and intrusive

  For example , always fearing your family is in danger
• Obsessions have the ability to lead to compulsions
• A compulsion is a behaviour , something you physically do

  For example , always checking that doors are locked and plug sockets are switched off
