  • The Mughal empire was very difficult to administer. This is because decisions and messaged had to be relayed across thousands of miles and it would emperors did not know what was happening throughout the empire because of its vastness. When rebellions broke out, it would be months before they could take action to end them. This is one of the reasons why Aurangzeb encouraged the use of Mansabdars. This is a huge reason for the decline of the empire.
  • The Mughal empire was vast and diverse and so people of many cultures and religions resided there. Because of this, there were constantly rebellions. The cost of putting down these rebellions and fighting against foreign invaders huge. This played a major role in the downfall of the Mughal empire.
  • Succession disputes weakened the empire immensely. The fights to gain power were costly and affected the overall administration of the empire. This has also been a huge contributor to the end of the Mughal empire.
