  • HOLY SPIRIT
    ·         The 3rd person of the trinity
    ·         The holy spirit is part of everything that god is and does and always has been and always will be.
    ·         It is the power of god present in our world
  • HOLY SPIRIT AS THE GIVER OF LIFE
    ·         It was through the holy spirit that god breathed life to adam.
    ·         “the lord… breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living person.” (genesis 2:7)
  • HOLY SPIRIT AS THE PARACLETE
    ·         From the greek word “paracletus,” which means helper.
    ·         “but the helper, the holy spirit whom the father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and remind you of all that i said to you.” (john 14:26)
  • HOW DID THE SPIRIT MANIFEST ALL THOUGHOUT THE BIBLE?
    ·         Bible verses depicting the Holy Spirit
    ·         “… the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” (Genesis 1: 1-12)
    ·         “And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” (Ezekiel 36:27)

  • PENTECOST
    ·         Among all the manifestations of the Holy Spirit, the blank is the most dramatic.
    ·         For it is in this event that the Church was officially born.
    ·         By blessing the early Christians wisdom and the Gift of Tongue, God purposefully started the Proclamation of His Kingdom.
  • FIRE
    ·         Fire as symbol of the holy spirit is indicated in the statements about holy spirit’s baptism (matt. 3:11) and the tongues of fire on the coming of the holy spirit (acts 2:3-4).
     
  •  WATER
    ·         Jesus likened the spirit, which the believer in him was to receive to “streams of living water” (john 7:37-39). The one who is filled with the holy spirit has this “living water” flowing from his innermost being.
  • WIND
    ·       _ as a scriptural symbol signifies life and activity. It sets forth the power, invisibility, immaterial nature, and the sovereignty of the holy spirit. The spirit’s work in regeneration is like the wind (john 3:8) and the coming of the holy spirit on the pentecost day was described in terms of a sudden “sound like the blowing of a violent wind” (acts 2:1-4).
  • CLOUD
    ·         The _ represents the holy spirit’s guidance and glorious presence in your life. He surrounds you and reveals the glory of god. He rests on his new tabernacle, you. The cloud can be symbolic of the holy spirit.
  • HAND
    ·         The _ symbolizes the holy spirit as being the power of god at work here on earth.
    ·         Another note is that our hands are usually the instruments that god uses to fulfill his blessings.
  • DOVE
    ·         The most well-known of all symbols of the holy spirit.
    ·         The _ is used to reveal the gentle, yet powerful, workings of the holy spirit. Through the gentle workings of the holy spirit, god points out our failures and nudges us in the right direction.
  • SEAL
    ·         The _ of god symbolizes the gifts of the holy spirit embedded within our souls during our baptism and our confirmation.
  • OIL
    ·         In the Old Testament, priests were consecrated and ordained as oil was poured upon their heads (Exod. 29:7 – see also Lev. 8). Kings were also anointed with oil as they took up office.
    ·         Holy Spirit, thus, not only anoints and empowers for Divine service, but also enlightens and lubricates. The Holy Spirit both illuminates and eliminates friction in our lives. Oil is also used to anoint the sick (Mark 6:13; James 5:14).
