  • Hypothalamus (in the brain)

    Hormones: ADH, CRH, Dopamine and Oxytosin - regulates water in the body, metabolism and controls emotions
  • Pituitary (base of brain)
    Hormones: ACTH and LH/FSH - stimulates growth i.e. egg and sperm maturing
  • Thyroid (neck, infront of trachea)
    Hormone: Thyroxine - regulates the body's metabolism
  • Parathyroid (next to thyroid glands)
    Hormone: Parathyroid - Controls calcium, phosphorous and vitamin D levels in the blood
  • Adrenals (top of kidney)
    Hormone: Adrenaline, Cortisol - fight or flight response and the body's response to stress
  • Pancreas (behind stomach)
    Hormone: Glucagon and Insulin - lowers and/or increases blood sugar
  • Ovaries (each side of the uterus)
    Hormone: Oestrogen and Progesterone - puberty development, reproduction and the menstrual cycle
  • Testes (inside the scrotum)
    Hormone: Testosterone - regulates sex drive, sperm production and fat distribution
